The Cypress Workshop

In the summer of 2015, Alex renovated a 1,200 square foot space into his woodworking shop in Waterbury, Vermont, with ample room for wood storage of reclaimed lumber and other local hardwoods. Since then, the space has doubled, with a top of the line industrial Powermatic dust collection system, upgraded tools and equipment, and a dedicated concrete fabrication room. It’s the perfect set up to build beautiful handmade furniture, built-ins, cabinetry and mill work.

In early 2019, Cypress Woodworks went solar, installing 28 solar panels on the south-facing roof. These high output panels have cutting-edge technology, producing approximately 120% of the energy needed to run the shop. We're proud to be doing our part to reduce our carbon footprint, and with two Tesla batteries as backup generators, our shop will keep plugging away, even during a grid outage.

Cypress is supportive of sustainable resources and energy. We are proud to power our woodworking tools by the sun with our new solar panels courtesy of SunCommon. We chose to partner with SunCommon on this project because they share the same responsible business practices as we do. They were an excellent company to work with.
